Round 3 of the Queensland Government Business Basics Grant
Round 3 of the Queensland Government Business Basics Grant Opens 4th May 2022
Update - The Queensland government outsources grant applications to the Smartygrant website. They apparently did this without doing a needs analysis or load test because the website crashed the moment applications opened. Two hours later the government announced that applications would be postponed to a future date. We will keep you informed.
Round 3 of the Business Basics Grant has two streams – one for South East Queensland businesses and one for regional Queensland businesses.
If you have a business in these regions, you may be eligible to obtain a single, up-front grant payment of $5,000 (excluding GST) to be spent on one of the listed activities below. It is important to note that the Queensland Government will not fund activities that cost less than $5,000 (excluding GST), or activities where payments are made before the approval date. Your business must be approved for a grant before you pay for grant-funded activities.
What Can the Business Basics Grant be Used For?
As with previous rounds of the grant, this program is really to provide support to businesses to assist them with increasing their skills and adopting best practices in their industry. The five funded activities that are supported by the grant include:
- Training and coaching
- Website build and upgrades
- Professional business advice
- Strategic marketing services
- Business continuity and succession
Wondering what you could use your Business Basics Grant towards?
Many small business websites are ineffectual because they have not kept up with the rapidly changing business environment over recent years. Lets face it, many were never that effectual in the first place! You can use the grant to upgrade or relace your website. That may mean migrating to a newer more effective website platform, such as migrating from Woocommerce or other entry level ecommerce system to Shopify or adding ecommerce funtionality to a static site, adding click and collect or online booking capabilities. It might mean integrating your online store to a stock control system to better manage your stock.
Whatever your website needs are, it is important to remember that grant applications close as soon as the quota is filled so you need to be ready to lodge your application, with a detailed quote, on May 4th.
